During the early stages of the second-world war an area of 5000 acres in the New Forest was taken over by the RAF and utilised for practice of various bombs, including the largest bomb ever dropped on UK soil – ‘Ten-Ton-Tess’ or the Grand Slam, weighing 10,000kg – the crater it left is still clearly visible, as are various other features, such as the large concrete arrow pointing to the night target, and the Tall Boy bomb crater.
You get to fly over the site, see the fascinating history hidden away from most - learn the story of the WW2 aviation in the New Forest. A brilliant trip for those interested in WW2 and the New Forest.
